  • What is the U.S. Census?

    The U.S. Census—mandated by Article I, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution—counts every resident in the United States every 10 years. The data collected is used to make many determinations that impact American citizens, including how many members of Congress a given state has and how federal funding for some programs is allocated.     The U.S. Census Bureau is bound by law to protect your answers and keep them strictly confidetial. In fact, every employee takes an oath to protect your personal information for life. (https://2020census.gov/en/data-protection.html)

     

    Are there questions about legal citizenship on the census?

    No, the proposed questions about legal citizenship were not included on the finalized census questionairre. 

     

    "In mid-March, homes across the country will begin receiving invitations to complete the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail." (https://2020census.gov/en/important-dates.html)
